About the Human Rights Film Festival
Amidst deep polarization and nationwide calls for racial justice, especially in Atlanta and the Southeast, the Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival was founded in 2019 to extend the College’s position as an institution founded on the principles of equality and social justice.
Now in its fourth season, the festival has year-round programming that attracts diverse audiences who continue to have conversations on global human rights and social justice issues in hopes of moving the needle towards change. Our work is anchored by the Morehouse brand reputation and the hallmark of educational excellence that it has grown to represent over the last 155 years, but our posture is with a progressive look towards the future.
Throughout the year, the film festival hosts screenings of documentaries along with short and feature films that provoke discussions about immigration, race, gender identity, politics, health care, law enforcement, along with many other human rights and social justice topics.
The overarching goals of the film festival are to:
Why Give?
We are seeking your help to raise funds to cover the cost of bringing human rights filmmakers and activists to Morehouse’s campus for programming that educates, engages, and inspires Morehouse students.
Our goal of $50,000 covers fees and associated costs for filmmakers who are invited to the festival: airfare, transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, set-up expenses at each venue, and more.
As a donor, you will be a part of building a sustainable long-term event that enjoys significant local community involvement. You have a unique opportunity with the festival to empower the next generation of filmmakers, activists, and humanitarians who will advance poignant, consequential stories, causes, and perspectives that ultimately impact change in the world.
